China Graduate School of Theology | Hong Kong
The China Graduate School of Theology (CGST) is the only nondenominational seminary in Hong Kong. As an interactive learning community focused on equipping Christian disciples, CGST is committed to upholding the evangelical Christian faith while staying in touch with the current social and cultural milieu. Theological education has always been a dynamic spiritual movement beyond an academic institution: cultivating servant-leaders for the kingdom of God, undertaking the holistic mission in partnership with the Chinese Church, bearing witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and for the transformation of our Father’s world.
CGST focuses on creating reflective collaborators. Their aim is to create leaders who are able to respond to their changing environment, working together to find ways of continuing the Christian movement in Hong Kong, China, and across the world. They strive to live out the reflective and collaborative framework in several key ways. First, professors work together on the curriculum for their integration subjects. These classes, required of all students, are direct demonstrations of the faculty’s commitment to collaboration as 3 professors teach together. Second, all students must reflect on their own context during their capstone project. These projects encourage students to respond to modern day concerns with theological thinking. A third way reflective collaboration is built into the school is through the “Reflective Collaborators” book. This book not only speaks to this vision but demonstrates it, as each faculty member wrote a chapter.
In addition to their masters and doctorate programs, CGST also provides several courses for lay leaders. These courses are offered both in-person and online allowing CGST to reach a wide audience both in Hong Kong, mainland China, and around the world.
Another change in CGST has been the recent appointment of a new President. Dr. Bernard Wong stepped into this role in 2021 and is helping shape the focus of the school. Learn more about President Wong’s vision for the school:
