Daniel Munayer | Musalaha | Israel
Daniel Munayer is a new member of an old partnership. Daniel recently succeeded his father, Salim, as executive director of Musalaha. Musalaha is a faith-based organization that teaches, trains, and facilitates reconciliation between Israelis and Palestinians. Musalaha's unique reconciliation model has been applied and taught throughout the world.
Musalaha believes reconciliation occurs through a two-pronged approach:
- Restore Individual and Group Relationships
- Address systemic injustice
Desert Encounters:
One of Musalaha’s primary programs is their Desert Encounters. Desert Encounters begin relationships for many of their groups, creating meaningful time to being the process by building relationships. In the desert, people go through trials, healing, and transformation. The desert helps to provide even footing, removing many of the power dynamics which can prevent relationship-building. These relationships allow the groups to then continue in their different initiatives towards creating long-lasting, sustainable change and reconcilliation.
Other programs:
Musalaha has many other programs in addition to Desert Encounters, including:
- Cross-border Israeli-Palestinian reconciliation programs
- Palestinian Muslim-Christian reconciliation programs
- Reconciliation workshops
- Overseas youth exchange and volunteering projects
- Youth leadership workshops
- Two-year Young Adult Muslim-Christian Volunteer projects in Bethlehem
- Children’s summer camp to help begin building relationships
